Using video surveillance to protect ports reliably and cost-effectively
Ports are the linchpin for the import and export of goods and a fundamental part of a wide variety of supply chains. But as a hub for all types of goods, they are above all highly attractive for intruders and organised gangs. As they can be reached both by land and by sea, the perpetrators can use a variety of routes to gain access to the storage facilities in order to loot valuable cargo. Then there are incidents of vandalism that do not just affect large maritime ports but also smaller domestic ports. They therefore require special protection against theft and vandalism. Comprehensive safety precautions are also required for fire prevention purposes and to guarantee the general safety of persons as well as the entire port including boats and ships moored there.
Mobile video surveillance systems can be used flexibly and enable both extensive areas of land as well as chaotic areas with difficult access in ports to be protected. The systems can also be fitted with a thermal imaging camera in order to be equipped for any weather, enabling intruders to be detected even in dense fog. Smoke detectors can also optionally be fitted to detect, for example, fires in storage facilities early on and avert major damage.

How the video surveillance with LivEye® works
We firstly create an individual safety concept to provide your port with continuous surveillance. The mobile LivEye® surveillance systems can be used flexibly, and with a mast height of up to 8.50 m have no trouble monitoring even extensive areas. The orange lighting acts as a deterrent to unauthorised intruders, especially at night. Movements are reliably detected by the intelligent analysis software and identified as people, animals, vehicles or recurring movements. If the continuously staffed Video Monitoring & Alarm Centre is alerted, the operator on duty reacts immediately. The person is initially spoken to and asked to leave the premises via the integrated loud-speaker system. If they ignore this demand, we inform the responsible security guards or the police. In addition, the LivEye® One & One+ 230V surveillance systems can also be battery-operated in order to guarantee continuous recording even if there is a power outage. Even video recording without an external power supply poses no problem. Thanks to a corresponding power supply system, the LivEye® Pro 2.0 system operates fully independently for up to three months.
