Video surveillance to protect events

Sporting competitions and concerts often take place on huge, meandering sites. This makes it difficult for the security team to keep an overview of things and provide comprehensive protection for the event. Festival grounds, in particular, create confusing swarms of people. Moreover, there’s sometimes congestion at individual entry points, which can become particularly dangerous if people start to panic. Events of all different types are also frequently the scene of criminal activities, altercations and brawls. This doesn’t just affect large events such as concerts and sporting events, but also demonstrations and seasonal events such as carnival celebrations, Oktoberfest events and Christmas markets. Criminal activities and the outbreak of a brawl often remain unnoticed in the throng of people and are difficult to investigate after the event.

Special security measures are required to make sure that temporarily erected parking areas and access routes don’t turn into potential sources of danger. Video surveillance is therefore becoming increasingly important as part of large events. Mobile systems assist the security team in keeping an eye on potential bottlenecks and identifying dangerous situations early on. Security personnel and the people in charge can therefore control the streams of visitors in a targeted manner and intervene early on in the mass of people.
